A Study of the Antigenicity of T3 and T4 Coli-dysentery Bacteriophages during the Vegetative Stage of Development
نویسنده
چکیده
The development of viral neutralizing antibodies in animals injected with T(3) or T(4) phage is considerably inhibited by the presence of bacterial antigens. A new procedure has been described to liberate phage from infected E. coli B bacteria by inducing lysis with penicillin. By immunological means it has been shown that T(4)-infected cultures of E. coli B, in which phage development has been inhibited with proflavine, contain the viral neutralizing antigen after lysis. In contrast, it has not been possible to demonstrate by immunological means the appearance of viral neutralizing antigen in E. coli B infected with T(3) prior to the appearance of intracellular phage.

Classification of bacterial viruses; the relationship of two Serratia phages to coli-dysentery phages T3, T7, and D44.
Routine serological testing of a number of strains of bacteriophage indicated that some of them were related serologically to coliphages T3 and T7. One of these strains was dysentery phage D44, placed by Burnet (1933) in serological group 2 of the coli-dysentery phages. Two others were phage strains I and IV of the group of Serratia marcescens phages described by Wasermann and Seligmann (1953)....
متن کاملEffects of Deficit and Cutoff Irrigation During Different Phenological Stages of Fruit Growth on Production in Mature Almond Trees cv. ‘Mamaei’
Regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) is commonly used during different phenological stages of fruit growth and development in almond trees to reduce the amount of irrigation water applied without or with only very small reductions in yield. Therefore, to study the effects of deficit and cutoff irrigation during different phenological stages of fruit growth and development in almond cv. “Mamaei” p...

A research trial was conducted during 2011-2012 to elucidate the effects of humic acid (HA) and NPK to determine the optimum rate against different growth and floral attributes on tulip cultivar viz. ‘Triumph’. The following five treatments T0 : (control), T1: 10 g/m2 NPK (17:17:17), T2 : HA 0.75 ml (8%) + 10 g/m2 NPK (17:17:17), T3: HA 1.00 ml (8%) + 10 g/m2 NPK (17:17:17) and T4: HA 1.25 ml (...

In this study, 90 internal organ samples of poultry with symptoms of colibacillosis were obtained from Maragheh poultry farms in East Azerbaijan, Iran. In total, 70 bacterial isolates were confirmed as Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains using standard biochemical tests, and antibiotic sensitivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. Antibiotics used in this study included ampicillin, pe...
